The end of 2001 marks the beginning of a new stage in The Planet’s evolution. For the first time, the magazine’s staff is producing content exclusively for web distribution through this website. We at The Planet decided on this course of action after perceiving a lack of high-quality, local reporting on environmental issues affecting the whole of society. What you see on this site today is our first step in remedying that situation.

Since its inception in 1979, The Planet has operated under the belief that through responsible journalism, meaningful and lasting changes will be made. We embark on these new endeavors in that same spirit, with that same goal in mind.

The Planet Online is a work in progress, but it gets better every day so keep checking back and please feel free to tell us what you think by e-mailing us at planet@cc.wwu.edu.
